The spirit

On this mountain village named Krini (=fountain), on its paved square with the namesake fountain, is located the ef zin II. In the heart of the village, it consists its heartbeat that gives life to the villagers and attracts visitors from all over the region. It is like a fountain of life. It was rebuilt from its burned ruins with an excess of love and willing from the people behind the ef zin II. It is like a phoenix that rebirths from its ashes. This café restaurant welcomes its guests with a kind smile and a warm atmosphere. It is a place where friends can catch up, families can relax and play and everyone can delight an experience of taste and sight. It is a place which travels its guests thought the colors of earth and sky that blend deftly with the natural materials. It is a place which evokes a sense of nostalgia when returning home that can be found on the warmth of the stone and wood. It is a place that opens the heart of people encouraging them to lift their glass, their spirits and stay a while.

The layout

The ef zin II is built on the burned ruins of the first ef zin. The only component that survived the fire was the stonewalls, which were maintained and restored. All the added components respond to the main design aim to retain the character of the building and redefine the brand as a restaurant based on traditional cuisine with a fresh twist. In the front was built a wall-to-wall glass entrance to welcome the guests and the roof was built with traditional wood technique to add in the interior a reference to the past and a blueish rooftile on the top to add a signature element visible from afar. Since the available area is 55sq.m., one of the main planning aims was to maximize space utilization. The linear layout of the space lead to dividing the area into two zones of dining and kitchen area. With the optimum placing of the furniture, on the dining area the guests that can be served are about 30% more than before and the kitchen space has been doubled. The two zones are divided with a multiple use furniture, which serves both sides for storage, for passing the dishes and, also, integrates a wine cooler. The double height with the wooden roof, was used to create an attic for the wc area and storage room.
